Q: How did you come up with the idea for the Impostors™?

LISA: The Impostor Model was invented when I was having communication issues with my husband. I started jokingly saying, “Who just walked through the door? He’s not the man I married!” On occasion, I’d say “Who is this that I’m eating dinner with? He’s not my husband!” So I started naming the different aspects of his personality that walked through the door. I began to understand him better, and it helped me not get angry.

Soon after identifying my husband’s “Impostors”, I began to recognize them everywhere! I would notice them popping up throughout my travels, and in the Soul Blazing Sanctuary with my clients.

When I caught them saying something strange, I would say “Wait a second, that’s not you – who was that speaking just now?” I found that using the “Impostor” model created a safe way for my clients to get radically honest about how their behaviors were getting in the way of their success and fulfillment. Identifying and working with Impostors is intensive and quick, it gets to the root of people’s individual needs.
